Tragedy struck a motorcycle endurance race in the Philippines, claiming the lives of two riders in separate incidents.

On EDSA-Guadalupe, a vehicle driven by Martyn Tan, 23, fatally struck a motorcycle ridden by Kalayaan flyover, who later succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a truck.

In a separate incident, three people lost their lives in Dinalupihan, Bataan, when a truck collided with a motorcycle and subsequently rammed into a house and store.

149 Motorcycle-Related Fatalities on Philippine Roads

These incidents underscore the alarming number of motorcycle-related fatalities in the country. According to data from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), there were 149 motorcycle rider deaths in Metro Manila alone from January to May 2023.

Safety Concerns Raised

The high number of motorcycle-related accidents has raised concerns about safety measures during long-distance races and on Philippine roads in general.
