Social Media Hoax Misleads Twitter Users
The rumors resurfaced in June on Twitter when RIP Harvey trended in reference to a Kentucky radio regular named Harvey Doyle.
On July 18th, 2023, the hashtag #RIPHarvey became a trending topic on Twitter, sparking confusion among users.
However, the trend was not referring to the famous comedian and TV personality, Steve Harvey, or the disgraced Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein.
Instead, the hashtag was related to the passing of Harvey Doyle, a regular caller on Kentucky radio station KSR.
To clarify the situation, Steve Harvey took to Twitter on July 18th, 2023, stating, "To those confused by the recent Twitter trend RIP Harvey it is not about gameshow host and celebrity judge Steve Harvey. Sadly it isn't about Harvey Weinstein either."
Social media users quickly expressed their gratitude to Harvey for dispelling the confusion.
